The Plaque

A clear rectangular field held inside a scrolled frame, with a crest of carved leaves rising above it and an ornamental cartouche closing it at the foot. The field is left smooth so nothing competes with the names. Both names run across the center joined by an ampersand, and the date sits below on its own line. The ground is blackened; the frame and the lettering stand up in gold.

Ceremonial by design. It is meant to look commissioned rather than ordered.

Craftsmanship

The metal is grown over the sculpted form rather than poured into a mold, which is why the leaves in the crest stay separate from one another and the scrollwork keeps its returns instead of softening into a blur. Real copper and brass, bonded to the surface rather than painted or plated, so there is nothing on it that can chip, flake or peel. Nothing here sits flat on the surface: the lettering, the scrollwork and the crest each stand off the ground at their own height, between 2 and 5 mm, so the piece is modeled rather than stamped. The plaque is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid all the way through. The raised areas are buffed back by hand against the blackened ground, and that depth and contrast together are what make it legible from across a room.

Built to last

Sealed under a UV-protective finish once the patina is applied. It is made for an interior wall, but it holds its color in direct sun and through rain, so a covered porch or a sheltered entry is equally safe. Nothing to repaint, no rust bleed, no fading on the side that catches the afternoon.

Personalization

Three things are yours: the first name, the second name, and the date. Names go in whichever order you want them. Write the date the way you write it at home - June 14 2026, 06.14.2026, or 14 June 2026 - and that is how it is set. Long names are not a problem; the lettering is sized to suit the name rather than the name cut down to suit the plaque. Send the spelling exactly as it should appear and a design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

An "Est." line above the date is standard if you want one, and couples marking an anniversary often use the marriage year here instead.

The leafwork in the crest reads fully at 8 x 6 and above. At 6 x 4 and 7 x 5 the crest is simplified slightly so the names and the date stay crisp.

Mounting

Three ways, chosen at checkout.

• Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall and the plaque lifts on and off. The simplest permanent fix and the easiest to level.
• Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips applied to the back before it ships. No drilling. Best on painted drywall, tile, or any smooth clean surface you would rather not put holes in.
• Floating stud mount: threaded studs on reinforced bosses that hold the plaque a fraction clear of the wall. It throws a shadow line under the crest, and no fixing is ever visible.

On the day

The larger sizes are often hung at the entrance or fixed to the arbor for the ceremony and moved indoors afterward. Rain is not a problem. If you are fixing it to a structure rather than a wall, check the structure will carry the weight at the size you have chosen.

Where it works

An entry wall, above a console, over the bed, at the turn of a staircase, or propped on a mantel. Dark paint suits it best - the ground recedes and you are left reading gold against nothing.

Gifting

Most of these are bought by someone other than the couple: a parent, a sibling, the friend who knows the date without having to check. The same piece works years later for a tenth, twenty-fifth or fiftieth anniversary, when the date on it has had time to gather something behind it.

Care

A soft dry cloth is all it needs. Keep brass polish and abrasives away from it - the dark ground is meant to stay dark.
