About the Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is the pale pink end of the quartz family, closer to blush than to red, with cloudy white drifting through it. Iron traces give the color, and where they thicken the pink deepens; where they thin, the stone turns nearly clear.

Cut as a disc the markings have no beginning or end, so the eye keeps traveling around the circle instead of stopping at a corner. Daylight picks up a faint internal shimmer across the surface, while lamplight warms the whole plate.

How It’s Made

The stone is cut to a true circle and the full rim is electroformed, real metal grown onto the edge and permanently bonded rather than laid on as a leaf or coating that can rub off. Handles in solid brass are fitted at opposite sides in one of four shapes: classic scroll, leaf scroll, laurel arch or open leaf. The tray is made in 12", 14" and 16" diameters, and gold, silver or rose gold is offered across the rim and the handles together.

Details

  • Material: natural rose quartz with an electroformed metal rim
  • Size: 12", 14" or 16" diameter
  • Finish: gold, silver or rose gold electroformed, on the handles and the tray
  • Handles: solid brass, in classic scroll, leaf scroll, laurel arch or open leaf
  • Food use: serve with a liner or servingware rather than setting food straight onto the stone

Every disc is cut from a different piece of stone, so the color and the pattern change from tray to tray.

A Gift For

Housewarming buyers take the 12", couples registering for a wedding usually take the 16". The round shape reads as a drinks tray on a side table as easily as a cheese course, which makes it an easy anniversary or retirement gift for someone who already owns plenty of kitchenware.

Use and Care

Wipe the stone and the brass with a soft, damp cloth and dry them at once. Keep food on a liner or in servingware rather than on the stone itself.
